SLNS Thammanna’s 26th anniversary marked by prioritizing religious rituals

SLNS Thammanna held an all night Pirith singing ceremony and almsgiving on 04-05 to mark his 26th birthday which fell on 01 January.

The Commander of the North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Bandula Senarathna brought the casket of the holy relic in pious sentiments for the Pirith Singing Ceremony, from Sri Sambuddha Maha Viharaya in Pandulagama, Anuradhapura to SLNS Thammanna. The chanting of Pirith was led by members of Maha Sangha, including the Chief Prelate of Sri Sambuddha Maha Viharaya.

Meanwhile, alms and Pirikara were offered to 21 members of Maha Sangha on 04 January, where blessings were invoked on the Commander of the Navy, serving and retired Navy personnel and members of their family.

The events were held in accordance with COVID-19 protocols to prevent possibilities for the spread of the pandemic. Deputy Commander Naval Area North Central, Commodore LN Hewavitharana, Commander SLNS Thammanna, Commander JMGB Jayakody, commanders of other bases, heads of departments and a group of naval personnel attached to the command were present at these occasions.
