Letter to the Editor: Religious Beliefs Should Not Drive Abortion Policy

First Amendment: “Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of a religion, or prohibiting the free exercise…” It surely follows that legislators and courts must also not introduce personal religious beliefs into statutes. or decisions, but that is exactly what is happening.

Not to mention the misinterpretation of the Constitution, the repeal of Roe v. Wade will accomplish no more than a token reduction in abortions, and those perhaps by turning neighbor against neighbor. It will not be a more human world.

Women must have the final say in the possibly difficult decision regarding abortion; respect that. We have 11 national holidays. A holiday celebrating the separation of Church from State should become the 12th!
