Congress leader Pramod Krishnam, speaking at Panchayat Aaj Tak, said Lord Ram cannot be associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress has never been against building Ram Mandir.
“Congress has never been against Lord Ram. And it can’t be associated with just one party, or with the BJP. Ram was there even before the birth of BJP. We have worshiped Lord Ram from time immemorial, ”said Pramod Krishnam.
Asked about the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the Congress leader said everyone was happy that a temple was being built for Lord Ram. “Nobody complains about it,” he said.
“Congress has never been against building Ram Mandir,” Krishnam said.
BJP leader Vinay Katiyar, who was also part of the Panchayat Aaj Tak event, said the Congress party had always been against the Ram Mandir movement.
“However, there were still a few people, even within the Congress Party, who supported our cause. We have sacrificed four governments for this cause, now I see a change happening in Congress as well, ”said Vinay Katiyar.
Reports indicate that construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya is progressing according to plan and worshipers should be allowed to pay homage to the deity by the end of 2023.
The entire Ram Temple complex will be ready by 2025, however, according to reports.
